BRT management and control: Members of the PUC team with the involvement of MIT members have been working on innovative ways of controlling BRT operation. Bus holding and boarding limits on passengers have proven very successful and now the team is exploring over passing buses, coordination with traffic lights, station skipping, passengers transfer coordination, etc.
Test performance of BRT design under different scenarios by simulation: We need to understand how reliable can BRT performance be under stressed conditions or major uncertainties. CTS-Brasil is conducting a project experiment, using the EMBARQ BRT Simulator developed in Brazil, to study the effect of several BRT design parameters on the performance of a heavy demand BRT corridor typical of South America.
