EMBARQ Brasil and Rio: a partnership to implement a BRT network for the Olympics 2016
This webinar will present the work so far conducted by EMBARQ Brasil in supporting the public authority and the private sector in implementing a world-class BRT network in Rio. After a brief introduction to the BRT network being implemented for the Olympics 2016, the presentation will address topics such as: (i) the simulation work that was decisive in the selection of Rio de Janeiro to host the 2016 Olympics by the International Olympic Committee, and that is also key for TransBrasil BRT corridor that has the potential to become the heaviest demanded BRT corridor in the world; (ii) the Strategic Alignment of the TransOeste BRT corridor including the identification and mitigation of risks; (iii) the road safety audits performed along 2 of the BRT corridors and their main recommendations to reduce crashes and save lives; (iv) the public health assessment of the TransCarioca BRT corridor; (v) the marketing workshop that discussed best practices of marketing and communications for BRT systems; (vi) the technical and press missions conducted to cities outside Brazil to show the challenges for implementing good BRT systems.
